Kitty Wash

It's really fun to take pictures of things with a camera!  If you don't have one of your own, maybe your mom or dad would let you borrow one.  Look around and see what funny or interesting or pretty things you can find to photograph.

This is a funny thing I saw one day.  I was washing some clothes and I saw my kitty sock floating on top of the water.  She looks happy.  I guess she wanted to be clean.  If you want to send me some photos you take, ask your mom or dad to email them to me and I'll put them up on the blog.  Happy clicking!

Make Your Own Barbie Dresses From Paper Towels!

Kayla decided to make dresses for her Barbie dolls out of white paper towels.  Above is one of her finished dresses.

She started out with just a plain one to practice making a dress.  She taped it together with scotch tape.  You can see the tape dispenser made a good stand for Barbie!

Kayla tried another one, and added some cute pompom decorations made from the paper towel.  She taped these on too.

She decided to make a fancier style by cutting some designs in the paper towel.

Kayla also painted some colorful designs on the paper towel.  Here is her sister painting some too.
Kayla made a pretty summer dress for her Barbie using the painted and cut paper towel.  She also added a border made out of a plastic zip-loc bag.
Now that she had practiced making dresses, Kayla decided to paint the paper towel to go with a dress design.  She wanted an extra fancy one!
To add extra pizzazz to her fabric, she cut out some flowers from a magazine.

This is how the design looked before she made a dress out of it.
Now you know how Kayla got her dress to look this way.  Isn't it nice?

You could try to make your own paper towel Barbie dresses.  It's really fun, and not too hard!  Don't forget that your Barbie won't be able to sit down in her paper dress!  It will tear!!  If you want to, you could cut some slits in the skirt so she could sit down!

Have fun making your new Barbie dresses without having to sew them!

The Bad Tree

Click on the picture to see it big.

Kayla drew and painted this great picture when she was five. See all the cute fairies and their houses? Kayla said that the tree was bad, but it was acting friendly (and she showed me how his branch arm was around the Queen fairy's house, the yellow one).

The little girl fairies were trying to get the apples off the tree because they were hungry, and the apples looked delicious. But the Queen fairy was telling them to get away from the tree.

We talked about how if the tree is bad, then the fruit is bad too. Here's a Bible verse where Jesus says this too:

"Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or else make the tree bad and its fruit bad; for a tree is known by its fruit." Matthew 12:33

Grown-ups: children are very smart, and we can learn a lot from them!

Discovery (Help Me Write A Story)

Click on the picture to see it really big.

Let's write a story together to go with this picture!!

  • What shall we name the little girl?
  • What is she doing?
  • What has she discovered?
  • What is on the other side of the gate?
  • Is this a secret garden?
  • How did she find it?
  • What creatures do you see in the picture?
  • What should their names be?
  • What is going to happen next?
  • Is it a sad or happy picture?
  • How will the story end?

Thanks so much for giving me your ideas. I'll collect some, and then write the story for you to read, OK?

See you later!

Pumpkins

Say that fast, over and over! Isn't that a funny word?

What is your favorite thing to do with pumpkins? I like to make and eat pumpkin bread. Yum.
